Helena Choi Soholm is a PhD candidate in clinical psychology at Saybrook University. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology and religion from Smith College. She also holds master’s degrees in theology from Harvard Divinity School and in existential-phenomenological psychology from Seattle University. Her research interests are in the areas of shamanism and indigenous healing practices. For her dissertation, she will be interviewing Western shamanic practitioners about their experiences of becoming a shamanic healer when they did not grow up in or come from indigenous cultures. Helena is originally from South Korea and immigrated to the United States at a young age. She currently lives in the Seattle area and has a psychotherapy practice serving Asian immigrants as well as the larger Seattle community.
